Here I am catching up on reading magazines and passing on some insights to those who view my website.
I'm reading the magazine NZ Business February 2013 edition and extracted some notes below.
Editorial- "The first lesson is when the odds are stacked against you and it seems there is no way out -if you look hard enough you will find a solution."
- "Although the economic situation is all over the place it's important to never lose sight of what your business stands for.
- "There is wisdom in investing in your business during slow times " from NZIER (New Zealand Institute of Economic Research) businesses who use "business building" have improved performance rather than those adopting cost-cutting measures in this recession.
On Customer Experience - mentions that giving an exceptional customer experience will bring loyalty and recommendations to others, so increase the bottom line.
Soapbox- "If you are in business you need to keep up with the basics and business trends. One easy way is to get an advisory board. Get two outsiders- (say your chartered accountant and a retired business person from your line of business) With two there can be good debates, especially if they disagree on some issues.
In cruise mode.. "The hardest lesson I've had to do is learn to believe in myself- to get out there and promote myself"
